At Black Funding Network, we are proud to celebrate the remarkable achievements of one of our past grantees, the African Caribbean Education Network (ACEN). ACEN’s tireless commitment to empowering communities and advancing equity in education has made a significant impact this year, and their accomplishments are a testament to their vision and dedication.

As we look back on their achievements in 2024, it is clear that ACEN has been a driving force for positive change. Here are some of the highlights of their inspiring work:

National Expansion

ACEN has grown its reach significantly, extending its impact to schools, students, parents, and governors across the UK. This national expansion demonstrates their unwavering commitment to creating opportunities and fostering a sense of community.

Strengthened Partnerships

Collaboration has been central to ACEN’s success. This year, they deepened their partnerships with a range of organizations, amplifying their collective impact. By working together with like-minded groups, ACEN has driven progress toward shared goals and created a stronger foundation for long-term change.

Leading in Diversity and Inclusion

As a champion for equity, ACEN has delivered comprehensive diversity and inclusion training to schools nationwide. These sessions have equipped educators to create fair and inclusive learning environments. Additionally, their racial literacy training extended into the corporate world during Black History Month, broadening their influence and addressing systemic inequities across sectors.

Hosting Groundbreaking Conferences

ACEN hosted a series of impactful events that provided platforms for critical dialogue and professional growth. These included:

  • The ACEN Parent Summit, focused on supporting families.
  • The Junior Schools Conference, which promoted student development.
  • The Annual Anti-Racism Conference for Schools, which fostered conversations on equity and inclusion in education.

These gatherings have been instrumental in shaping strategies and building community-driven solutions.

Curated EDI Webinar Series

This year also saw the launch of ACEN’s Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion Webinar Series, providing educators with vital resources to enhance inclusivity across diverse curriculum areas. These webinars have become a cornerstone for professional development and educational excellence.

Career Development Opportunities

ACEN has worked diligently to create opportunities for Black students to thrive in their careers. By partnering with corporate organizations, they offered students exceptional programs combining virtual learning with in-person experiences. This initiative expanded into the North of England, extending its reach to more young people.

Recognition for Excellence

ACEN’s dedication to empowering communities was formally acknowledged at the Future Ed Awards, where they received the Parent Support of the Year Award. This recognition underscores the importance and impact of their work in transforming education for the better.

Looking Ahead

As we reflect on ACEN’s achievements in 2024, we are inspired by their progress and the lives they have touched. At the Black Funding Network, it is a privilege to have supported such transformative efforts, and we look forward to seeing how ACEN continues to lead change in 2025 and beyond.

Congratulations to ACEN on an exceptional year of impact and success!
